Why would two retired people start over in a career as private investigators? We might be crazy, but we kind of like solving problems, and we were running out of our own to solve! When Eric and I both retired, there was a restless energy between us. He enjoyed managing his own time (which meant not having a boss, other than me, to answer to) and although I love to garden, read, write, and take care of my pets, at the end of the day, we didn’t have much to talk about. Quite frankly, we had never thought about how our individual career experiences created a perfect foundation for private investigative work.
Eric is a black and white thinker who relies on facts and research to problem-solve. He is also a great interviewer and listener. I, on the other hand, rely on my therapeutic background to relate to people, putting them at ease so they feel comfortable sharing their stories. Eric has experience in all levels of law enforcement, security management, and investigative tactics. I spent my career working with divorce attorneys and the court system as the director of a non-profit that assisted high-conflict co-parents. Eric knows the business of crime and the smell of a rat. My experience gave me unique insight into the nature of families in conflict, as well as the workings of the family court system. The two perspectives seemed like a good match (like us) for this work.
We both are very excited about doing something together in which we can combine our decades of experience. In doing so, our hope is to not only help people resolve their issues, but combine our well-trained brains to make a difference — including having some really interesting things to talk about over dinner.
Stay tuned for more blogposts on our joint adventures! Diane Dierks
